The shared journey, a boat in my office

A principal’s quest

You are brought to my office for being rowdy, undisciplined and not very agile

I pause, I look, I scan and find in you a human who is actually very fragile

I ignore the juxtapositioned phenotype, want to study beyond and more

To find the root of cause and to declare something in you to adore

It is not easy to unmask and see what lies behind that hood

But I will reach the ultimate resonance which will be for your good

If it is the fear of failure or the assumption of not being competent

We can start from scratch, for that the role of mentor is meant

If you promise to try and be honest in your attempt

We will together get a masterpiece to paint

Meanwhile, you defy the structure, ignore the system and seem very far now

But we will navigate in the same boat someday somehow

The boat that will safely sail you to the success and glory of life

The boat that will be the testimony of our victory over your strife

I have patience to tolerate your tantrums but the world lacks time

We need to plan when to reach the goal and hit that winning chime

But before that I need to feel, you relate to me and we are in one team

Nowhere will we reach even in sound weather if the connection is dim

You may find my office a dark chamber, the classroom a boring structure

The syllabus worthless and the teacher, an authoritarian monster

But just wear different shoe one day and see the world through different lens

Everybody is protecting you, just like you would to your junior from jumping off the fence

My child, your life should have a purpose, a meaning, a tribute, a driving force

You will find your peace and eternal bliss, and the joy you seek, in that course
